Maui Diaries ~ part 1

Day 1
ALOHA! We went island hopping to Maui! Let me just say, Maui is much less crowded than Oahu, so it was much quieter and comfortable to be at the beach.
We stayed at the Four Seasons Wailea. When we arrived, all of our jaws dropped. Oh my gosh it was so beautiful! We checked in and were upgraded to a beachside room for free too! I think what really shocked us was the doorbell camera (similar to the ring doorbell). My sister and I loved locking each other out and watching the other on the camera.
We settled in quickly and threw on our bikinis to go swim at the resort beach. While we were swimming, a sea turtle was just chilling by us in only 3 feet water (I think it wanted to play mermaids with us). We went to the Waikiki Brew House for dinner, and finally I was able to have something vegan. It was only an impossible burger, but it was the only vegan burger I came across since we ate at on Oahu. I won’t lie, that impossible burger hit because I knocked out when we got back to our room.
Day 2
We all woke up early Saturday morning. Of course, we grabbed an ice coffee and then headed to the beach for a morning family swim. We swam for an hour before heading to Lanai-Kaanapali Beach. We went jet skiing off a floating dock in the middle of the ocean; watching my dad catch air was hilarious. Check out Pacific Jet Sports if you are in Maui, it is the perfect jet skiing location. We had lunch in the shopping center at Monkeypod, or I would say my family had lunch there. I do not recommend for vegans unless you want a salad or soup, which I did not after roasting in the sun. We stopped at Ono Gelato who had plenty of vegan flavors (I got raspberry), and then we headed back to the Four Seasons to swim at the beach some more. Let me just say this beach was nice and calm, nothing like the deathly waves on Oahu. I loved that I could just float in the water without having to watch for incoming waves and getting caught in washing machines. We watched the sunset from the water before heading back to the room to get ready for dinner. We grabbed mojitos at the bar in the lobby as we waited for our table at one of the resort restaurants. Ferraro’s was amazing and they had a whole vegan pizza with vegan cheese which made up for my disappointment at lunch. My sister and I loved laying on the couches on the balcony in our room making tiktoks and being obnoxious.
Day 3
Sunday was a busy day for the Molkentins. We stopped at Honolulu Coffee Co. in the nearby outdoor shopping center and got iced coffees and the most delicious açaí bowl. We were heading back to Lanai to drive off-road vehicles at Maui Off-Road Adventures. I was feeling lazy, so my sister drove us in our 2-person dune buggy. We saw some great views, but it could have been more fun. The cons were, (1) that we were not allowed to drive the vehicles fast and had to drive the speed of the families in front of us who were all young and under the age of 10, (2) we were covered in dirt even though we were fully clothed and had full helmets on. I felt really bad for the lady wearing white because by the time she washed her set it was going to be brown (at least brown is trendy at the moment). After trying to wash the dirt off, my dad drove us around the island (West Side) which we definitely were not supposed to do (hence the signs saying "no tourists past this point"). We begged my dad to turn back off the scary 2-way single road but he ignored us and kept driving. On our way back to Wailea, I found a full vegan spot in Maui called the Sprout Vegan Cafe. I got the Huli-Huli bowl which reminded me of a teriyaki chicken bowl. It was so good and a must try if you are ever in Wailea. Once back at the resort, we ate on our balcony and then swam some more in the ocean. Before calling our car for dinner, we stopped at the bar for mojitos, then headed out to Pita Paradise, which was in the same shopping center as Sprout. Pita Paradise had a “vegan” menu which was not actually vegan but vegetarian, so I had to order pasta with marinara. We were not impressed lol (the exact words that came out of my dad’s mouth to the valet). Cheers to another meal I did not like, but at least some good vegan dishes were coming my way on future days to come.
Thank you so much for reading! Maui Diaries part 2 & 3 coming soon. xx
